Shure SM57 Guitar Amp Mic Demos… Gear used: Shure SM57 around 0 retail in North America. Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 audio interface with 8 mic preamps. EVH 4×12 cabinet with EVH designed Celestion speakers. Canon XF100 camera footage synced with audio recorded into Pro Tool 10. Shure SM57 Mic Demos recording Electric guitar, in this video I am using a Shure SM57 in different positions on an EVH 5150 III 4×12 cabinet using Celestion designed EVH speakers. Similar to Celestion Greenbacks. I demonstrate the different sounds you can get by moving the Shure SM57 mic in different positions on the 12 inch EVH Celestion speaker. The differences in the sound of the Shure SM57 are subtle but you can hear more bass and less highs the farther you get away from the center cone of the speaker. I also place the Shure SM57 on the grill cloth for the first five mic positions and then in the last demo, I place the mic 1 inch away from the grill cloth. I think my favorite mic position is on the edge of the speaker cone about 1 inch off of the grill cloth. Check out the video and feel free to experiment with your mic placement.
